Curious About Christianity?

We would love to provide you with resources to study, or the opportunity to dialogue with one of our members or pastors regarding any concerns, thoughts, or questions you might have about the Bible or about Christianity. Set up an in-person meeting to begin a conversation that will allow you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, or to freely share your doubts, concerns, or reservations.

Being a part of an intergenerational body of believers...and being cared for by so many of you has allowed me to experience the love of Christ in tangible ways.

About Us

We want Red Tree to be a place of welcome, hope, and healing for all.

Whether you are churched, un-churched or de-churched; skeptical about Christianity or simply curious; a committed follower of Christ or a confused Christian, you will find a community where serious and genuine conversations take place about the claims of Jesus Christ and the brokenness and beauty of his church.

Ryan McVicar

Lead Pastor

Meet Ryan McVicar

Ryan grew up in central Illinois and became a Christian while in college at Murray State University. After college he married his best friend, Megan, who is from Hot Springs, Arkansas and a graduate of Rhodes College. Together they worked on staff with Campus Outreach to start two new college ministries in the Midwest.

Following their time in college ministry, they moved to Orlando, Florida where Ryan pursued theological training at Reformed Theological Seminary. In 2012, upon serving churches in Memphis and the Detroit area, Ryan, together with Megan and their three children (Nevin, Molly and Anna) moved to Royal Oak, MI to plant New City Presbyterian Church and to establish the Detroit Project, a ministry that exists to be a catalyst for a church planting movement throughout the Detroit region.

Ryan served as New City's Senior Pastor for ten years (2012 - 2022) and saw New City grow into a thriving, fruitful church. In 2022, the McVicar family was persuaded God was calling them to begin the privileged work of a new church start-up in Ann Arbor. The McVicar's are thrilled to be part of the Ann Arbor community and feel honored to serve the people of this great city.
